Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When I print under OS 9, I get an alert telling me that my settings have been changed. Why?
A: There is a known problem with certain printer drivers that causes this to happen, Printing should proceed normally after dismissing this message.

Q: Why don't my printed worksheets include lines?
A: Under OS X 10.3, using certain printers, lines do not print.

Q: When I log in as a student, why am I told that I cannot save my information?
A: Under certain circumstances, you might not have sufficient privileges to save information to the server. Check with your system administrator about resolving this issue.

Q: Why, when I launch Math-O-Matic, do I get an error saying that Math-O-Matic can't find the server folder?
A: Your server may be down, or your computer may not be connected to it. Check with your system administrator.

Q: Can I view or print reports on practice sessions?
A: No. During practice sessions, no data is permanently stored on the server. In order to get reports, tests must be taken by a student in the database.

Q: I use a single computer installation, and I moved the Math-O-Matic application. Now it won't launch and tells me I need to re-install. Why?
A: For single computer installations, the entire contents of the Math-O-Matic folder must be moved because the application requires files in the enclosed folders.

Q: When I try to log in to teacher or administrator management, a message tells me that someone is currently modifying the database, but that person is not logged in. What can I do?
A: Sometimes, if there is a crash or if a workstation is unexpectedly shut down, the Administrative database can remain locked. An administrator can override this lock in the Preferences section of Administrator Management.
